Enfield House is a celebration of atmosphere, and the realisation of a vision more than fifteen years in the making.

The clients had lived with the original home, collected art and objects over many years, and developed a clear sense of how they wanted the house to feel. The brief was never about starting again. It was about creating something new that could sit comfortably alongside everything that was already there.

The renovation and extension introduce a more contemporary way of living while retaining the weight, character and familiarity of the original home. Rather than creating a stark divide between old and new, the interiors were designed to soften that transition through materiality, colour and detailing, allowing each part of the house to retain its own identity while still feeling connected.

At the centre of the new spaces is a kitchen shaped around the way the clients actually live. Morning coffee, dinners with friends and long weekends spent entertaining all informed the planning, creating a space that can move easily between the everyday and the social.

Throughout the home, natural stone, handmade tiles, timber and bespoke joinery bring warmth, texture and depth. The material palette is expressive without feeling overly polished, creating an interior that feels collected rather than curated and giving the clients’ artwork, furniture and objects room to become part of the architecture itself.

There is a generosity to the new spaces, but also an intimacy to the way they are experienced. Large in scale yet warm in feeling, the home balances moments of openness with quieter places to retreat.

The result is a home that feels evolved rather than replaced. Old and new sit comfortably together, and the spaces feel as though they belong to the people who have imagined them for so long.
