Matthew James Studio is an award-winning residential design studio delivering thoughtfully designed homes across Melbourne and the Surf Coast. Specialising in renovations, extensions and new homes, the studio brings a calm, considered approach grounded in architectural understanding, materiality and the way people live.
Originally trained as an Architectural Building Designer, Matthew developed a strong foundation in planning, documentation and construction. Working across drafting, joinery design and technical detailing shaped an approach that values both creativity and resolution, ensuring ideas are not only considered conceptually but thoughtfully developed through to implementation.
Driven by a curiosity for space, materiality and the way people live, Matthew established Matthew James Studio to create homes that feel deeply connected to the people who inhabit them. Today, the studio balances imagination with technical precision, guiding clients through the design process to deliver spaces that are refined, functional and enduring.
